On my *5th trip* into Peshawar, it was another two day trip that began this past Thursday, and returning Friday night. (Will post about the previous trips to Peshawar a little later, as I don’t want to get further behind in my fieldwork blog posts.) I had one interview the first day located at the CM Secretariat, and others canceled. Quaid-e-Azam Birthday – A Visit to the Pakistan National Monument …
I am so behind on posting, and have been trying to find a way to catch up with blogging. I decided to go ahead and just blog on today’s events and then see if I can retroactively share about the events of the past month of December. Today was the Christmas holiday, but it was also Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s birthday today, so it’s a holiday here in Pakistan. Many people believe that if there was no Mohammad Ali Jinnah, there would be no Pakistan, so his birth is celebrated as a National holiday. Computer Problems and Update on Fieldwork
For the past week, I had struggled with some computer problems. The worst thing to happen in a developing country during your fieldwork, even one that is as advanced as Pakistan, is computer problems. For that reason, I am behind on a lot of work, deadlines, alongside recruitment efforts, and of course these blog posts. Up close with PM Imran Khan: The First 100 Days
I had planned to go to Peshawar again on Thursday (11-29-2018), but no meetings were arranged, and that turned out to be a good thing. Because to my luck, I was in for a nice surprise. I was able to get gallery passes to see Imran Khan speak at the Jinnah Convention Center, in Islamabad, which is located just five minutes from where I live. A Senator, who is also a family friend, graciously supplied her tickets. The 100 Days celebration and event was intended to mark Prime Minister Imran Khan’s achievements for the past 100 days.
